The role of the Siksika Health Services Board of Directors will be to Govern the affairs of the Siksika Health Services, with delegation of Administrative affairs to the Chief Executive Officer and from time to time will provide Management and internal services with independent and objective advice and guidance on the enhancement of the Siksika Health Services through accountable processes.

The qualified applicants will be determined by the following:

  • Must be a member of the general public, but not employees of the Siksika Nation;
  • Must possess skills, knowledge and leadership abilities respecting the boards they are interested in serving with;
  • Must serve on one Siksika Board at a time; and
  • Must sign a Oath of Confidentiality Agreement;
  • Experience and background in Health field.

The role of the Siksika Health Services Board of Directors in consulation with the Siksika Health Service Members (Chief and Council) will be to govern, review and formally approve and participate in:

  • The strategic direction, risk management assessment and business plans;
  • Capital/ Operating budgets and fiscal management;
  • Organizational development and to ensure oversight of internal controls and management information systems, which may include Acquisitions, strategic investments, partnerships and business development initiatives;
  • The business communications strategies to shareholders;
  • The Corporate Governance Policies and Procedures, Siksika Health Services Accreditation process;
  • Maintaining good working relations and collaboration with Federal, Provincial agencies partnering with Siksika Health Services.

Composition: 3 (three) Board of Directors required for the following: Elder (1), Community (1) Youth (1)

Term: 1 (one) year, at the discretion of the shareholders terms may be staggered.

Experience: Potential Directors must have related skills, knowledge and experience with the Siksika Health Services or related field.

Other: A letter of clearance from a recognized police service stating that the applicant has not criminal record, or a copy of the applicants criminal recorded as recorded on CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre), must be current (dated within 3 months). Depending upon the complexity of the Siksika Health Services mandate, a time commitment of up to 20 days per year is expected from each Board of Director appointed.

Mental Health Crisis Outreach Worker

Siksika Health Services is seeking a Mental Health Crisis Outreach Worker to join the team!

The worker will respond and provide support to individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis and support the Crisis Coordinator and Mental Health Clinical Team Leader. The Crisis Outreach worker will provide intervention to stabilize people experiencing crises, including resources.  The Crisis Worker will be required to travel and provide crisis support to other First Nations in Alberta.
