Substance Use Services

The Siksika Substance Use Program is based on the values of relationships once belonging to the Blackfoot tribe, of which Siksika Nation is a part. Addiction is an individualized disease, but the Blackfoot are a collective society; as such our program tailors support pathways for addictions recovery to specifically address each clients’ needs, using a collective, community-based approach.

Our Mission:

Implement interventions that will support the development of healthy relationships, self-identity and strengthen connections that foster healing with the integration of a holistic approach for treating co-occurring disorders.

Siksika Substance Use Services incorporates evidence-based practises that prioritize the needs of the clients by incorporating a theoretical model, the Stages of Change. Rather than focusing on the immediate addiction, this model focuses on changing the behaviour of the individual to address the addiction. We focus on:

• Building healthy connections and relationships
• Meeting Individuals where they are with their healing and recovery
• Providing holistic support; mind, body, and spirit

Services Provided:

1. Substance use support:

   • Treatment readiness: assessment & connection to an addictions worker, based on unique individual needs
   • Outpatient treatment program: 16-week Matrix Program
   • Aftercare supports: holistic and ongoing spiritual, mental, behavioural, emotional and physical supports such as life skills, therapy, wellness and support groups
