Siksika Health Services is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to invite Indigenous artists—Siksika Nation members preferred—to design a new corporate logo for the organization. A logo is one of the most visible expressions of an organization’s identity. It appears on letterhead, signage, vehicles, printed materials, the website, and social media. Because the logo will represent Siksika Health Services for years to come, the organization is committed to a process that is transparent, fair, and grounded in meaningful community engagement.
Siksika Health Services (SHS) is guided by the traditional value of healing each other together, and provides a wide range of quality health and wellbeing services to all Nation members and surrounding communities.
Vision: Soksistomsin: Healthy communities – body, mind, spirit
Mission: Iitomanyoap: A sacred commitment to provide high-quality, safe, accessible, and accountable community-driven health services
SHS is seeking a logo that reflects the culture, land, and heritage of Siksika Nation, while also representing the organization’s role as a trusted healthcare provider in the community.
The successful applicant will design a total of six logo concepts, organized into two streams:
All six concepts should reflect the identity of Siksika Nation as well as the mission, vision, and values of SHS. The successful applicant will work closely with Siksika Health Services’ communications team and graphic designer throughout the project to ensure that each concept is both culturally grounded and technically effective across all the ways the logo will be used, including the website, digital media, signage, the company vehicle fleet, and printed materials.
The selection of the final logo will take place in three stages. First, SHS’ leadership will review all six concepts and shortlist several finalists, including at least one coat-of-arms-based design and one original design. Second, these finalists will be presented to the Siksika community for a vote, and the designs receiving the most community support will be presented to SHS’ Board of Directors for final selection and approval.

The total budget for this project is $10,000, inclusive of all design work, revisions, and file preparation described in this RFP. Applicants should indicate in their proposal how this budget would be allocated across the scope of work, including any assumptions about the number of revision rounds included.
The successful applicant will deliver a final logo in horizontal and vertical versions, along with all-black and all-white versions for use on light or dark backgrounds. All final files will be delivered in a full set of formats, including AI and EPS (editable files used by designers and printers), SVG (a scalable file well suited to websites and digital use), and PNG and PDF (ready-to-use files for everyday documents and web content). Finally, the applicant will work with Siksika Health’s Communications team to produce a short use guide explaining how to apply the logo correctly, including colour combinations, minimum sizing, spacing, and examples of correct and incorrect use.
Upon completion of the project and final payment, all rights, title, and ownership of the selected logo, including all source and editable files, will transfer fully to Siksika Health Services. The successful applicant will be asked to sign an agreement confirming this transfer of ownership prior to final payment. Unsuccessful concepts remain the intellectual property of the artist.
The successful applicant will collaborate with SHS’ communications team and graphic designer throughout the project. This collaboration is intended to help translate cultural knowledge and artistic concepts into logo designs that are technically effective across all applications, including small-scale digital use and large-scale signage and vehicle wraps. For revisions, the successful applicant shall provide up to 2 rounds of revisions to the selected concept.
