Siksika Head Start Graduation & 25th Anniversary Celebration
On June 11, 2026, the Siksika Head Start Class celebrated an important milestone as students walked the stage for the very first time in their educational journey. Families and loved ones gathered to honour this special day, beginning with welcoming remarks from Siksika Health Services CEO Angie Sarsons, Community Wellness Manager Pauline Yellow Fly, and Head Start Coordinator Samantha Pretty Young Man.
This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as Siksika Head Start also marked its 25th anniversary. The occasion was honoured with a special song, reflecting on the program’s long-standing impact in supporting children, families, and the community. The team also continues work on a commemorative 25th Silver Anniversary Yearbook to celebrate this legacy.
The day’s events included a grand entry, honour songs, and an opening prayer from keynote speaker Laura Sitting Eagle. The program featured strong family and staff participation, including Justice Poor Eagle, lead teacher Tamera Poor Eagle, and the presentation of student certificates. The celebration concluded with a community round dance and shared meal.
As part of the anniversary recognition, four remarkable women were honoured for their dedication of over 20 years to Siksika Head Start: Pauline Yellow Fly, Tamara Poor Eagle, Rosalie Red Gun, and Philomena Many Bears. Their commitment has helped shape generations of young learners and families within the community.
