Every Child Matters Traditional Powwow a Success

Thank you to the 7500 people who attended, danced, sang and supported the Every Child Matters Traditional Powwow on September 30th at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

We would also like to thank the organizers, Calgary Sport and Entertainment Corporation and our sponsors for ensuring the event went smoothly

The National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, known more commonly to Indigenous communities as “Orange Shirt Day”, honours those who attended Residential Schools in Canada, their families, and communities.

By commemorating the legacy of Residential School survivors, and those who never returned home, we participate in a vital component of the reconciliation process

This was an amazing opportunity for Siksika Health, Calgary Hitmen, and the Calgary Sport and Entertainment Corporation to educate fans, raise awareness, and understand reconciliation.

This event aligned with the partnership’s mission to work together to address stereotypes and racism by advancing inclusion in our communities through the promotion of Indigenous culture, language and history.
