All Siksika Nation community paramedics are Advanced Care paramedics with specialized community-focused training to care for people with both episodic and chronic health needs.”
When community members have emergencies and acute healthcare needs like heart attacks, car accidents, overdoses and strokes, they need to call the ambulance. For less emergent issues and chronic conditions, community paramedics can provide appropriate care. All Siksika Nation community paramedics are advanced paramedics who have experience working on the ambulance; in addition, our community paramedics are trained in primary and chronic care management.
Patients may have transportation issues and other barriers to accessing healthcare. Community paramedics eliminate this barrier as they are a mobile team that is present everyday in the community. The team responds to calls, as required, building connections and relationships with clients by reducing barriers to access for care. They work to ensure that community members are being heard, and that their needs are met.
