It provides an opportunity to provide education and awareness of addictions to the community. The overall focus is to provide prevention support\, talk about treatment and recovery\, and look at positive solutions for change. \nService areas will set up booths that have specific topics to Addictions and prevention supports\, the youth will have the opportunity to engage in conversation with the teams: i.e.\, Ask me about Heroin\, ask me about Alcohol\, etc \nThe event will take place on Thursday\, November 23\, 2023\, located at the Deerfoot Sportsplex-Gym side.  Bagged lunches will be provided. We will also provide incentives and door prizes for the youth.

It provides an outlet to help combat addictions and mental health issues during these unprecedented times . It also gives hope and promotes mental wellness by fostering connections with youth\, community members\, and brings families together. \nRegistration: $500.00 entry fee\, nonrefundable deposit of $100.00 due upon team registration. Amount must be paid in full by March 29\, 2023.\nPayments – Cash or EMT payments please send to bmanybears@hotmail.ca use password: volleyballclassic (all lower case\, no spaces) \nTournament rules & regulations\n– Age limit is 16+ (due to the competitiveness)\n– Format is 4 male / 2 female; 2 females must always be on court\n– Max 8 players per team (for merchandise count)\n– Team roster is final after last round robin game is played. No add on’s or exceptions for playoffs\n– There will be 2 pools of 5 teams. SUMMARY:Siksika Sport For All: Adaptive Lacrosse
DESCRIPTION:Community Mental Health and Wellness and SN7 will be collaborating to implement an adaptive recreation program that will modify sports activities in be inclusive of all abilities. \nAdaptive sports provide modifications to a particular sport so that athletes will be given the opportunity to participate with appropriate accessible accommodations. The key principle of adaptive sports and recreation is inclusivity. The Siksika Sports for All Recreation Program will offer a variety of adaptive sports beginning with a 6-week adaptive lacrosse program. \nThis program will be drop-in style at any time during the event hours. \nThe Autism and Asperger Friendship Society (AFFS)\, which is a program that offers specialized sports\, supports\, and recreational respite to many families with all abilities will assist in the facilitation of the instruction\, equipment purchase and lacrosse instructors. \nThe AFFS coordinators are specialists in the field of disability and sports and are excited to mentor the SN7 youth group so that many adaptable sports will offered and so that SSARP will be sustainable in inclusive programming. \nOther adaptable sports that will be offered to the community will be Goal Ball\, wheelchair basketball\, wheelchair lacrosse\, adaptive running\, sledge hockey and sitting volleyball. \nThe SSARP committee is committed in their dedication to provide this long awaited inclusive sports program so that all Siksika members with all abilities will be given the opportunity to participate in any sport. \nDISCLAIMER: Participants are asked to bring their own caged helmet if possible\, there may be a small number of helmets available for use but this is not a guarantee.
